The old girl needs some T.L.C. from time to time to allow for a little nip and tuck and therefore we're planning to close for a few days. We’ll be closing at 9.30pm on Sunday 6th of October and reopening Friday 18th October. Don’t worry we’re not refurbing/wrecking the place, or changing what we do, just a few vital bits of maintenance in the kitchen, cellars and a few improvements to the bar and bedrooms upstairs. Hopefully you’ll bear with us during these days and we look forward to welcoming you back once we reopen.
The Jug & Bottle, a traditional pub nestled away in the heart of Heswall on the Wirral peninsula.
The Jug as it's affectionately called by our regulars is a stone's throw from the ‘hustle & bustle’ of Heswall, hidden up behind the village hall & library. Our bar has a buzzy feel to it with a few of Heswall’s great and good popping in for a pint. We’ve also got a quieter side for a more relaxed or intimate meal. Whilst she might not be prettiest of pubs from the outside once you’re in you’ll feel right at home. The Jug is full of character with open fires and different cosy areas to hide away in.
In the summer we have a fantastic large decking overlooking the surrounding gardens with glimpses of the Dee Estuary and North Wales through the trees.
Our bar serves a great selection of local beers and some really good wines from slightly further afield. Our award-winning menu is a good mix of British cuisine, some familiar classics and some slightly more interesting dishes, all sourced as locally as we can without compromising quality.
The pub has six en-suite guest bedrooms upstairs, so should you over indulge or are visiting the Wirral for business or pleasure, the Jug offers an ideal base. We’re within half an hour of both Liverpool & Chester and just 5 minutes off the M53.
