We are a warm and welcoming bunch at the Jug with Andy at the helm. Having joined us as general manager in October 2014, Andy has put his stamp on things continuing to grow the Jug as a charismatic and thriving pub hidden away from the usual hustle and bustle of the busy town of Heswall.
ANDY GRAHAM – GENERAL MANAGER
I am 35 years old and was born and brought up on the Wirral in West Kirby about 10 minutes from The Jug & Bottle. I have lived on the Wirral most of my life apart from in my middle twenty’s when I spent some years studying in Bradford.
I have been involved in the industry for about 18 years in one capacity or another starting as bar staff in The Harvest Mouse in 1997 to running a number of places over the last 12 years. I came on board at the Jug in October 2014 and look forward to exciting times ahead with the company.
Outside of work I enjoy socialising, eating out, playing golf and have a keen interest in football.
HARRIET HARDING – DEPUTY MANAGER
JAMES SKINNER – ASSISTANT MANAGER
I’m 27 years old and was born in Heswall and have lived on the Wirral all of my life other time spent studying at Sheffield Hallam University and travelling in Australia. Previous to working at the Jug I was the general manager of a couple of pubs on the Wirral. Prior to that I spent 18 months at The Ship Inn in Hoylake after returning from a post-university working holiday in Australia. My first ever job was a delivery driver for Dominos at the age of 17. I’ve only been in the licenced trade for four years, however I’ve always been in hospitality – my family run a Bed & Breakfast in Hoylake.
Outside of work I’m a big fan of sports – Saturday afternoons away from work will probably take me to watch one of Tranmere Rovers, Hoylake Rugby Club or Lancashire Cricket Club (the choice usually depends one who has the best chance of winning!). I also love eating out and cooking with Italian food being my favourite, but there is something special about hearty British food that can’t be beaten. If I had to choose between savoury or sweet then I would have to say savoury, although I’m easily bought with a sticky toffee pudding!
MARK JOHNSON – HEAD CHEF
I’m 32 years old and was born on the Wirral. I have lived here all of my life having gained various experience through my 15 year career in the industry at a number of restaurants in the area such as head chef Hickory’s as well as Gusto. As most chefs I started out as a KP and just loved the kitchen environment, I knew I wanted to be a chef from then on. My favourite thing to cook is a great curry although personally my favroutie cuising to eat is Italian, I just love carbonara! I also have a bit of sweet tooth so anything sweet and yummy always goes down well with me. As a chef, the things I just couldnt live without in my kitchen are my fish slice and salt.
Away from work I enjoy watching football along with also being a bit of a movie fan. I always try and find time to catch up with friends and family too. I joined the team at the Jug in the summer of 2015 as sous chef and quickly progressed to the role of head chef. I am excited to bring my ideas and dishes to the Jug’s menu.
Without all of these guys we couldn’t make it happen: our excellent front of house, kitchen and housekeeping team.
